On one of the hottest and sunniest days of the summer, HOMELINK took part in the Seaford Mayor’s ‘Family Fun Day’ charities initiative. This new community event, held on September 5th at the Martello Fields, Seaford, was set up by Rodney Reed, the town’s Mayor, to help raise funds and the profiles of the area’s local charities.
Approximately 30 charities and not for profit organisations attended the event which also included a line-up of live music, dance performances, sports demos and a mini marathon. With local food and drink available throughout the day along with face painting and a toddler ‘bubble’, there was literally something for everyone at the family-focused event.
The Funday was a particularly special event for HOMELINK as it was the first time for nearly two years that the team has been able to have a public presence again in the community. The team was delighted to be able to meet local people again in-person, share information about our service, and attract some new supporters! We were also thrilled to have raised over £300 on the day thanks in part to our winning the top cash draw prize awarded by the Mayor.
Special thanks go to our volunteers and trustees who helped run the stand on the day and to the Mayor of Seaford for organising the event on behalf of local charities in the area.
