HOMELINK’s garden party fundraiser raised an incredible £3,700 for our summer appeal to help local individuals and families in the Lewes District struggling to cope with the cost of living crisis.

Over 100 guests attended the event on Sunday 17th July, held at Ryderswells Farm, Lewes, on one of the hottest days of the summer so far. Plenty of seating under magnificent trees in the garden however meant that guests were able to relax, stay cool and enjoy the beautiful setting.

Afternoon tea, homemade cakes, strawberries and cream, and a Pimms & Prosseco bar were some of the treats guests enjoyed. Whilst a woodland tour and lawns sports such as croquet, clock golf and boules were available for those feeling a little more energetic!

Live music from accomplished guitarist Joseph Behrmann, the ‘Work in Progress’ Jazz ensemble and the wonderful ‘Lewkuele’ created a real summer festival feel throughout the afternoon. And a stand-out raffle draw, featuring local donations from Bill’s Lewes and other local business proved very popular and raised an amazing £1200.

The owner of Ryderswells Farm estate, Patricia Wyatt, who hosted the event, also presented HOMELINK with a cheque for £500. In a moving speech, Patricia referenced her late husband whose birthday it would have been and shared how happy she and her family were to be able to hold the fundraiser in memory of her beloved partner and support HOMELINK.

‘Our summer garden party at Ryderswells Farm this year was fabulous success,’ said trustee and event organiser, Jane Lee.

‘Our heartfelt thanks go to Patricia and her family who so generously hosted and supported this event.

‘Thanks also to the army of volunteers who helped with the delivery of this event from securing sponsorship, organising resources, and arranging flowers through to baking cakes, serving Pimms, and coordinating an exceptional afternoon tea service. It was a first-class team effort – thank you everyone!’
