HOMELINK’s summer garden party event, held in the stunning grounds of Ryderswell Farm, raised £3700 thanks to the kind support of a number of local businesses, individuals and organisations.

A generous donation of £450 from Waitrose (Lewes) enabled HOMELINK to offer refreshments, a Pimms & Prosecco bar—available ‘by the glass’ for a donation—and a wonderful afternoon tea for guests. Tesco (Lewes Town) kindly sponsored the strawberries and cream served.

Other local business supported the event by contributing raffle prizes, which included a £50 voucher from Bill’s Lewes; a £50 Amazon voucher donated by Rockhunter; kitchen equipment items by Hot Ideas; a case of wine from leading wine expert and presenter, Tom Surgey; and a private tour of Highdown Gardens , offered by West Sussex County Council.

Cumulatively, the raffle and Pimms & Prosecco bar alone raised an impressive £1200! Our thanks to Charlie Nicols for organising such a successful raffle.

In addition to sponsorship and donations, an army of helpers and volunteers also contributed their time, talents and resources to support the delivery of the event.

Jazz sensations ‘Work in Progress’, the irrepressible ‘Lewkulele’ and super-talented guitarist Joe Behrmann all delighted guests with their music, and created a wonderful atmosphere throughout the afternoon.

Local Arborist and tree expert, Billy Wright, provided fascinating tours of the estate’s private woodland; and Glynde Place donated freshly cut flowers to add to the ‘country garden’ ambience – all expertly arranged by HOMELINK’s Finance Manager, Gabrielle Hill.

HOMELINK supporters and volunteers baked the impressive array of cakes served and a special mention goes to HOMELINK volunteer, Andrea Gooch, who did a first-class job of managing the afternoon tea service; thanks also to the incredible Rosemary Lewis and her ‘grannies’, who prepared and served strawberries for 100+ guests!

‘Thank you so much to all those who contributed to our fabulous garden party at Ryderswells Farm,’ said trustee and event manager, Jane Lee.

‘It was a magnificent team effort which not only raised a considerable amount for our summer appeal but also introduced the work of HOMELINK to many more people in our community. Without you, this wonderful event would not have been possible.’
