We are delighted to announce that the Lewes District Food Partnership (LDFP) has awarded HOMELINK a £2k grant to support clients experiencing food poverty.
The impact of food poverty on HOMELINK clients has been significant, with many individuals and families referred to HOMELINK needing to choose between eating, paying bills or heating their homes. Others contacting us are street homeless, or in crisis, with no means to access a hot meal.
The LDFP funding will form part of our small grants scheme, which has been expanded this year to help tackle food poverty.
The funding will be used to support the street homeless, ‘hidden homeless’, families, newly released prisoners and other HOMELINK clients who are affected by a lack of food or who are eating inappropriately due to their financial circumstances.
The fund will also be used to purchase food vouchers for basic food shopping or, where homeless clients do not have access to cooking facilities, a voucher to access a hot meal locally.
The HOMELINK team wishes to thank LDFP for this support in enabling us to directly help those most in need within our community.
