We are delighted to announce that The Chalk Cliff Trust has recently awarded HOMELINK a £5k grant to support our latest #homes4families campaign.

The #homes4families campaign has been set up to support parents and children in the Lewes District area affected by homelessness during the pandemic. It is targeted to raise additional income to fund loans and emergency grants, attract new volunteers, and increase our reach locally so more families are aware of HOMELINK’s service and how to access support at this difficult time.

Since the start of the pandemic there has been an 18.7% increase in people presenting as homeless in Lewes District and a concerning rise in applications for loans. Over 50% of HOMELINK’s loans in 2020 were made to single parents and their children with relationship breakdown, mental health issues, domestic violence and loss of employment all factors that have led them to seek HOMELINK’s support. With eviction bans due to lift at some point this year, we are braced for an unprecedented increase in demand for our services.

HOMELINK will use the £5k grant to produce essential marketing and public information resources to underpin the delivery of our campaign which will directly support the most vulnerable families in the Lewes District area over the next three years.

HOMELINK’s Chair, Joan Wignall, said: “Our heart-felt thanks go to The Chalk Cliff Trust for their support of HOMELINK and our #homes4families campaign. This grant funding will be an enormous boost to our fundraising and awareness raising campaign which will assist many families in our local area who are at crisis point. We are truly grateful for the Trust’s support.”
